Utterly Atrocious

I don’t watch American Idol on a regular basis, but just when I thought that these kids on American Idol couldn’t do worse than butchering Beatles classics, I watched Jason Castro try to do a cover on Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff” tonight.

I agreed with Simon completely that it was utterly atrocious — in fact, I thought he was being too nice. The performance made me want to vomit. Good Lord, America. Send him packing already!

On a lighter American Idol note, David Cook’s “Baba O’Riley” cover was AWESOME. That guy really amazes me. Truth be told, everyone has been going crazy for Archuleta, but you know what? I would never be able to listen to an album of Archuleta singing. I think he’d put me to sleep faster than Celtic Women would. I think that’s why he sings with his eyes closed — he falls asleep halfway through his own songs. Ha! Okay, I’m being mean. He’s not that bad. I just think he’s years behind David Cook and rightfully so. He’s still a kid. That said, I think he’s more suited for Disney’s High School Musical 3 than he is American Idol… but that’s just me. I acknowledge that I’m highly critical and am not easily impressed.

Ooh, I’m actually having a flashback. Back when I used to blog on Xanga, I got into a blog war with some random girl about American Idol’s Jasmine Trias. Apparently, I was supposed to support Jasmine because she was Filipino. Uhh, okay.

And it’s not like I made some snide comment like “her voice makes me want to vomit”.
