Time For An Update

It’s been a while since I’ve updated on my 101 in 1001 progress. Since my last update, I’ve purchased a couple more albums, went on a one-on-one date with Alyssa, threw a surprise baby shower for my co-worker, and I’ve scheduled another Isagenix Cleansebeginning July 7th through July 15th. I felt like the results from the last cleanse were great, so I’m really looking forward to this one. Both my brother and sister-in-law will be doing it with me this time around.

I’m hoping to document this upcoming cleanse a little better than I did last time. I know, you’re probably saying “But you didn’t document it AT ALL last time!” Well, now that I at least have an idea of what to expect, I think it will be much easier. I’m hoping…

Upon completion of the 9-day cleanse, I’m considering moving right into another cleanse of a sort. Heather has started the same 21-day cleanse that Oprah recently did and I’m quite intrigued. Inspired by the book Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston, the cleanse eliminates sugar, caffeine, animal products and… gulp… alcohol! Meanwhile, you can still eat — you just have to make conscious decisions about what you put in your body.

See, my problem isn’t really related to exercise. I tend to workout about 5 times a week. My problem is that I make poor decisions about what I eat. If I could go a whole 21 days making conscious decisions about the food I’m consuming, perhaps I’ll make a habit out of it.

What do you think? Do I stand a chance? Ha!

A Date Has Been Set — June 11th

At the request of my 4-year-old niece, Kayla, June 11th has been officially named Auntie Gemma Day!!

Okay, perhaps “officially” isn’t the right word yet. Who would I need to call, though? Hallmark?

Last Tuesday, my sister-in-law reminded Kayla that Father’s Day was coming up.

“Kayla, are you going to make a card for Daddy since it’s Father’s Day?”

“Okay, but Mommy… how come there is a Mommy’s Day and a Daddy’s Day, but no Auntie Gemma day?”

So when Carol was sharing this story with me on Wednesday, I asked Kayla when she thought Auntie Gemma day should be. She responded, “Today!!”… and so began the tradition of Auntie Gemma Day.

I have to admit, I think it would be will be the greatest holiday in the world!

Our company just celebrated its 10-year-anniversary and, amidst several milestones and celebrations, each employee was given a Green iPod Shuffle. Ironically, my somewhat outdated iPod Nano was also a gift from a previous employer, so I’ve been very lucky to never have to purchase an iPod for myself.

I was very excited when our CEO came around the building to hand these out personally. He’s very good at that sort of thing. It was a very pleasant surprise and was definitely a great way to kick off the week.

For me personally, the iPod Shuffle was sort of an answered prayer. I’ve been having a hard time working out with my bulky iPod Nano. I know what you’re thinking — the Nano isn’t all that big. Well, maybe if you have proportionate biceps!! Ha! As petite as I am, the iPod Nano really gets in the way of my workouts.

I’ve also begun to download all my mp3s via Amazon.com. The songs are cheaper than iTunes and the files are downloaded as true mp3s, so you can easily burn them as a CD or manipulate them for ring tones or whatever. I can’t comprehend why iTunes would make you purchase mp3s and then not let you “have” them. Annoying.

So yes, probably one of the best Mondays I’ve had in a while! Hope your weeks have kicked off on a good note as well.

Real Women Love Football

… and I mean LOVE. There are certainly gals out there who like to wear thongs with the Oakland Raiders logo on them… that doesn’t count!!

So have you made your football picks for the upcoming season yet?? Do you think Tom Brady will have yet another amazing season? Do you think my Broncos will suck… again? Haha. What can I say, I’m a die-hard fan. Win or lose, I still got love for my teams!

My favorite pick for the last two seasons has always been the Eagles’ Brian Westbrook. I swear, despite injury after injury, that fool still manages to run that ball better than a lot of people. Football experts seem to have pretty high hopes for Tony Romo this season. Eh. We all know how he plays when he has a girlfriend… remember this?

Enough said.

Okay, okay — I’m being a little hard on him. But c’mon… Jessica Simpson? Seriously???

Anyway, if you’re planning on playing Fantasy Football, be sure to make your picks soon!
