Happy Monday, folks. Congrats to Andy who won Friday’s Fill-In contest. I was absolutely, positively craving steak and lobster on Friday. Just as expected, however, I didn’t get to eat either! Not exactly the ideal meal for a starving college student, huh? Ha!

My favorite guess was recieved via Facebook and was “Jager & a Sprite chaser”. I wasn’t exactly craving it, but I did get to share some with one of my favorite gals, Maria, as we celebrated her boyfriend’s birthday with a handful of people. Sigh, memories of our 2007 trip to Texas!

I digress. Congrats again to Andy! Hopefully both you and Holden have received the Amazon.com Gift Cards via email. If not, let me know.

On to other things…

It’s no surprise to me, I am my own worst enemy…

Am I the only person who suffers from self-doubt? I’ve always been my biggest critic and I’m wondering when or if this will ever go away.

One of the classes I’m taking this semester is QBA (Quantitative Business Analysis) and it’s the final required math course for Business majors. During the first class, my professor announces that the textbook is NOT required. He said that if we were pretty good with math and felt comfortable without a reference, it was entirely up to us.

Great, I thought, because that’s $180 I would rather not spend, right? I’ve always enjoyed math, so I didn’t give it a second thought until the first homework assignment was handed out. I spent hours on five problems — yes, only five. I looked at my notes and did my best, but I struggled. Nothing looked right and with most of my answers, I felt like I was reaching and was just hoping to be somewhere close to the right answer.

I gave up on the assignment and ordered the textbook online. I was so disappointed in myself for not being one of those people who could do without the textbook. I was slipping… and it wasn’t good.

I submitted the assignment and guess what… I got 100. Psh. There goes my $180.

I was so annoyed for a few days, but I guess it’s okay. I have yet to open the book, but it is nice to know that I have a resource I can refer to if I really need it. The book is still in its “In Case of Emergency, Break Glass” case. Hopefully it will stay there!

  1. don’t they keep some text books on reserve? I discovered the library “reserves” late in college and it was for those textbooks that i didn’t NEED to buy but would be a good reference come mid-term or for additional support on papers. Or, if you wanna be gangsta, I’ll come by your school, punk a kid and then steal his/her book. Or, I’ll yell “SLUT” during one of your classes – to which, based on your other posts, I’m sure some chick will certainly reply and try to get all crazy with me. Then as I’m distracting her you can go and steal her book.

  2. @digga: Yeah, and I’d probably take advantage of it if I didn’t have to drive 50 miles to get to it! But I’m all for the idea of jacking someone else’s books next semester. I’ll keep you posted! Haha.
