The world has come to its end.

No, not really — not even close! But based on all the complaints I’ve read or heard since Facebook updated its design, you would have “thunk” (really should be a word, I think) that the new Facebook layout was the 8th plague of Revelation.

A poll was started and hundreds of thousands of Facebook users voted, giving their best possible feedback. I’ve decided to award some of my favorites:

The award for most dramatic goes to…

Well, we’ll all miss you… NOT.

The award for most credible source goes to…

I mean, how can you NOT value what this user has to say? He’s “apsaloutley” vital to this research.

The award for most ironic goes to…

Promotes stalking? Really? Your suggestive girl-on-girl profile picture doesn’t do that alone?

The award for most inspiring goes to…

There’s nothing more beautiful that seeing this phrase next to a picture of your two children. Classy broad.

The award for biggest charity case goes to…

DIALUP?! Really. This guy has no excuse — even my parents have high-speed internet. Facebook is way out of his league as it is. And THAT, my friends, “is the dumbest thing ever!!!!!!”

And finally, the award for just plain funniest goes to…

I felt guilty that I laughed really loud when I read this. Slightly guilty, that is.

All in all, I’m fine with the new layout as though that isn’t obvious enough. The biggest complaint from the majority is clearly is that it isn’t loser — err, USER — friendly.

What are your thoughts on the new layout of one of the many websites designed to consume massive amounts of your time that really should be spent elsewhere? (Makes it harder to answer like that, huh?)

  1. Isn’t it amazing how change can affect someone so immensely.

  2. I don’t use Facebook but I think change is always hard on a person and they just upset the applecart for a lot of people.

  3. I am working on joining facebook. I have yet to see the site. thanks for the heads up!

PSSST….. I have an award for you!

  4. On second thought, I am going to join Facebook just to be able to follow you!
    Love you girl!

  5. @Strong One: Seriously. And it’s just Facebook? Really?

@Lucy: Totally agree. Definitely a bandwagon effect!

@BIBI: Yay, glad you joined and connected with me!! And thanks for the award. :)

  6. i don’t like how you can’t screen or remove the highlights found on the right side of your facebook homepage. for example, 1 of my friend’s joined a group for animal abuse, and they have a thumbnail image of an abused animal that I see on the right side of facebook homepage everytime I log on (or until more of my friends post things that are highlight worthy for it to be bumped down). otherwise, the new layout is not bad. it reminds me of twitter.

  7. @725: No, I totally agree with you. The more I look at it, though, the more I realize that I have so many friends who waste their time taking countless quizzes and joining random (though not always useless) groups. Guess I can’t blame Facebook for that. Haha.

  8. Not too happy with the change myself. I just started using facebook and finally got used to it and then they changed the layout. Grrrrr
