First day of a much needed week off and I’ve already got 25 tasks on my growing things-to-do list. It’s going to be an EXTREMELY busy week, but I’m also determined to get a lot done. School has been so draining and time-consuming that I’ve been putting off much more than I’d like to admit (or document).

Eric and Kaye’s baby shower is THIS Saturday. (Hi Eric.) I’m officially in panic mode, which is typical for me. Any suggestions for baby shower games or icebreakers out there? Please keep in mind that the audience will be, contrary to traditional baby showers, predominantly male. Suggestions are much appreciated! I know a lot of you are mommies, so things that worked for your showers (or failed miserably) would be very useful information for us!

Tomorrow is a huge cleaning day for me — watch out, Mr. Bathroom and Mr. Closet, I’m coming for you. My poor Jack Johnson CD is not likely to survive tomorrow’s festivities. After all, he is my cleaning sidekick. I’ll have to find another artist to abuse for the next few cleaning days to give poor Jack a break.

Alrighty, folks. Must keep working at that list of mine. Busy, busy bee I am.

  1. how about an on-going game throughout the entire shower, where you can’t say the word “baby.” That one might be too hard, though. so, everyone starts off with 1 beaded necklaces. you have opptys to steal beads from someone if they say the word “baby” and you catch them saying it. whoever has the most at the end gets a prize. i always really like this game for some reason. haha

please don’t play the bottle sucking/drinking one. it really grosses me out for some reason. this is the one where you’re trying to drink out of a bottle to see who finishes first. haha

at the last shower, we made the mom&dad-to-be put a diaper on a baby doll AND put a onesie on it while blind folded. guests can guess how long it takes for them to finish and closest guess wins?

for a puzzle game, we did a match the baby with BOTH celebrity parents. bonus points if you can name the sibling.

  2. @digga: How funny — I hate that word game! Mainly because I’m not good at it and always want to violently punch anyone who tries to take my clothespin (or bead, I guess). Haha. The bottle sucking one is a MUST for baby showers with guys there!! And it always have to be filled with liquor — there’s no other way to do it. ;) I totally like the celebrity one, too, but I think that’d be more for a female audience, no?

  3. Nope. Sorry Gemmerzz no advice there to give. I totally suck at adult entertainment because I am so into kiddie mode.
WHEW! I need to get out more!
Sounds like you are going to have fun with the closet and bathroom. I always jam to a Latin music CD to get me going. And I always play it loud to cover up my potty mouth when I find all kinds of dust bunnies in the various corners of the house.
    Have fun!
